Dearborn

I will give you a new heart and put a new Spirit within you.

Ezekiel 36:26

The City, The People

Dearborn, MI is a city across the street from Detroit that feels in many ways distinctly different. Rich Middle Eastern culture thrives here, where the majority of the 100,000+ population have Arab roots and family history. In east Dearborn this is particularly true. Its homes and neighborhoods are filled with wonderful life and beautiful Arab culture. While American culture is clearly significant in the area, the Arab-American people, many who are first, second or even third generation Americans, have been purposeful to preserve their heritage. Businesses advertise in Arabic, markets sell middle eastern ingredients and cuisine and Arabic coffee flows! The distinct culture has a pronounced effect on the economy, social life and religious climate. The city hosts the largest mosque in N. America and is the home of the Arab American National Museum. Ramadan is as celebrated as Christmas. In certain areas of Dearborn, Christian influence is limited to non-existent. Joshuaproject.net considers many peoples within the city to be entirely unreached with the Gospel of Jesus.

The Mission

The people of Dearborn are beautiful, loved by God and, we believe, have open hearts to the Gospel. It’s here in Dearborn we’ve been called to live as a family. All of Metro Detroit needs the life of the Holy Spirit and we believe God will pour out His Spirit in great measure for all of Metro Detroit, but how will those who have never heard about Jesus hear if no one tells them? And how will anyone tell them unless someone is sent to witness? This is our mission and aim: to make God known in Metro Detroit, and Dearborn first.

We live to be disciples of Jesus and make disciples of Jesus, to live as a loving family and to be a good neighbor. We aim to gather in homes, gather as the church, build relationships and introduce anyone and everyone to Jesus – around dinner tables, on porches, in living rooms, from house to house, person by person, one soul, one family at a time. May God build His Kingdom here.
